The Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at SUSTech has introduced a group of well-known scholars and young talents from home and abroad to comprise an international faculty team with a reasonable age structure, complementary knowledge structure and equal focus on theory and practice. We are committed to fostering interdisciplinary mechanics talents with innovative thinking ability, international vision and modern engineering literacy. After graduation, our students are capable of engaging in consultation, R&D, planning and management in mechanics, aerospace, machinery and other related sectors, at enterprises, research institutes, governments and other organizations.
The research areas of the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering are divided into Fluid Mechanics, Solid Mechanics and Engineering Mechanics.
The research contents of Fluid Mechanics include turbulence, computational fluid mechanics, environmental fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, etc.
The research contents of Solid Mechanics include elastic wave imaging, fracture mechanics, structural dynamics, etc.
The research contents of Engineering Mechanics include computational mechanics, functional materials and structural mechanics.
