南方科技大学与德国柏林自由大学联合培养博士项目招生计划

2018年南方科技大学与柏林自由大学联合招收研究生,实行双校培养,双导师指导。该项目基本学制为四年,2年在柏林自由大学学习,2年在南方科技大学学习。授予柏林自由大学博士学位(Dr. rer. Nat.)和南方科技大学学习证明。

招生对象:优秀硕士(应届生需在入学前取得相应学位)

 

基本申请条件:英语水平与在校成绩参照南科大境外招生一般标准:GPA3.0及以上,雅思6及以上,单科不低于5.5。 

 

奖助学金:在境外学习期间南科大按境外高校标准为学生提供高额奖助学金资助,在南科大学习期间享受“南方科技大学高水平理工科研究生奖学金”资助,在德期间免除学费,在南科大期间学生缴纳南科大学费。学生按双方学校规定自行缴纳相关费用。

 

 

Collaborative PhD Program between Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Free University Berlin (FUB)

 

Program Introduction

 

Gene expression is a multi-step process. After transcription, mRNAs have to go through a series of intertwined processes to be finally translated into functional proteins. Post‐transcriptional regulation provides cells with diverse possibilities to fine‐tune their proteomes. To meet the demands of complex organism development and appropriately respond to environmental stimuli, all these steps need to be finely regulated and their dysregulation can lead to pathological conditions. Compared to the more extensively studied transcriptional regulation, post-transcriptional gene regulation has remained largely underexplored, although it is of similar, if not higher, functional importance. Only recently, with its importance being more and more appreciated, research on post-transcriptional processes started to flourish.

 

The joint FUB-SUSTech program will focus on different steps of post-transcriptional gene regulation involving different aspects of RNA biology, including, but not limited to, splicing, polyadenylation, RNA decay, mRNA translation, RNA modification. In collaborative projects involving labs of FUB and SUSTech, the students in this program will learn to use and integrate different analytic approaches, such as biochemistry, structural biology, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, in a systems-biology manner.
